Global Fast Food giant Burger King is on its way to South Africa through leisure group Grand Parade Investments.
Business Day Live reports that GPI executive chairman Hassen Adams said: “Grand Parade Investments is continually evaluating opportunities that will help support the company’s strategic objectives. Our extensive experience in the management of our outlet-driven business will add substantial value to the newly acquired Burger King master franchise.”
José Cil, president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Burger King, said the company had, with the help of GPI, studied the Southern African region and decided that now was the time to develop the brand locally.
The second largest fast food chain in the world and home to the Whopper Burger operates in 12 600 locations around the world with Cape Town looking like the destination for its South African launch in the first 6 months of 2013.
The Bring Burger King to SA campaign appears to have reaped some dividends despite only having 167 likes on its Facebook page. They sure will be happy!
A few years ago Burger King ran what one might call a “Punk’d” campaign where they told patrons that they had discontinued the “Whopper”. As you can imagine some of the reactions are stunned amazement and shock.
