The Flint Crepe Co. in Flint, Michigan is using its leftover bacon grease to make bacon soap.
Don’t be too horrified, you won’t be walking around smelling like a “cheap hotel buffet” with the fresh scent of bacon wafting around. The manufacturers scent the soap with citrus and ginger to ensure that you will still be welcome in every room you enter.
Rob McCullough, who works at the restaurant says that the company’s ethos to MLive, is to “take things from growers and then give them the by-products we use from them”.
The soap is made by Joy Derby, the sister of a farmer that sells the restaurant many of its vegetables and sells for $4.50 a bar in the restaurant.
Bacon Soap is not new, we found a couple of video’s on You Tube, an amusing advert for bacon soap and then a series on how to make bacon soap at home.
