Pippa Middleton launches book all about simple entertaining. Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends.

Pippa Middleton is a real foodie and has now published a book, Celebrate which is all about simple entertaining.

She was inspired by her parents party planning business and launched the book at a Halloween party for children in London.

Writing in The Telegraph she called it a labour of love and something she’s put her heart and soul into, obsessing over every detail.

It’s not a book for the extravagant dinner party but for those who want to keep it simple and comforting.

I could have written a book that showcased the most extravagant or elaborate of occasions – after all, I spent three years working for an events company planning parties – but I wanted to produce something that was achievable; something that people would have on their shelves for years; something that was not too fussy – just simple and comforting. My Granny was very much in my mind when I came up with all the craft ideas, while many of the chapters are based on what I remember of my childhood. I’m also a huge fan of Mary Berry – she has these great tips at the end of her recipes to “cook now and eat later”. I love anything that makes entertaining easier.

Her interest in food began when she did a months cookery course in Frome, Somerset after she finished school and then spent some time cooking in a professional kitchen as an assistant at a pub in Berkshire before she headed off to university.

When it comes to entertaining she spends hours thinking it over beginning with a vision in her mind as to how the whole evening will unfold carefully going through the invite list making sure that she brings together people who have something in common. That is critical when it comes to keeping the conversation going. For Pippa this would Ideally be a mix of new and old friends, she loves introducing people to one another.

She accredits her hosting skills to her mum,

I learnt my hostess skills from helping Mum in the kitchen – we all had to muck in – but we also always sat at the table and had proper meals together, so were involved in laying the table, helping make sauces, serving pudding, and so on. As children, we had to eat absolutely everything, which is probably why I’m such a foodie now as nothing really put me off: kidneys, oysters, mussels, liver, I like it all.

Celebrate includes tips from throwing the perfect Highland tea to a quick ‘venison and beetroot stew’.

The Mail Online describes one of the books ‘more eye catching chapters‘ as the one dedicated to breakfast where Pippa says it can be  ’anything from a simple pot of tea with a few digestive biscuits’ to a fully laden tray.

She also recommends decanting milk into a jug rather than serving it in a carton and serving boiled eggs along with with soldiers spread with trout pate along with a host of other party planning ideas.

The book also includes some chapters on life as a Royal and her famous behind.

We would recommend this book for any young aspiring hostess or even the older ones who are open to a few tips from Britain’s new aristocracy.
