What do we need to say, international TV star, 12 Michelin stars, restaurants around the world, a reputation for bad language.
Oh, I know, he’s Scottish and wanted to pursue a career in football but injury put an end to those dreams and he went to college to study hotel management.
His first years in the kitchen were spent training under culinary greats Marco Pierre White and Albert Roux in London. From there he moved on to France and continued his tutelage before he finally landed his first Michelin stars with Aubergine in 1996 where he was chef.
His first restaurant, aptly named Gordon Ramsay was opened in Chelsea in 1998 and within three years of its launch received three Michelin stars. From there it has pretty much been a rollercoaster ride with the expansion of his restaurant empire and the arrival on our TV screens with shows such as “The ‘F’ Word”, “Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares” and “Hells Kitchen”
His most recent activity in the restaurant industry has been the acquisition of the downmarket Laurier Rotisserie in Montreal and this month sees the opening of Bread Street Kitchen in the City of London.
