Written by Huang Demin of Ningxiang county in Hunan province makes his pigs dive, every day, from a 3 meter high wooden diving platform into a pond.
China Daily writes that Huang believes the diving improves the pigs’ immunity against disease, enabling them to eat more and grow faster. The quality of the pork, he claims, is greatly improved as a result and he is able to charge three times as much for his pork than other pig farmers.
Farmer Huang Demin says his diving pigs also bring visitors flocking to his farm in Guanshan village, Ningxiang county, in the country’s Huang Province.
He does have to give some of them a firm nudge to make them go over the edge… why am I not surprised?
