World’s Most Expensive Coffee! Move over civet droppings, elephant dung coffee is now the thing

Civit Coffee is set to be replaced on the most Expensive list by Elephant Dung coffee according to Anantara Hotels in Thailand.

The resort has begun refining its own coffee beans at its elephant camp behind the Golden Triangle resort in Chiang Rai.

The resort claims that, “Research indicates that during digestion, the enzymes of the elephant break down coffee protein.”

“Since protein is one of the main factors responsible for bitterness in coffee, less protein means almost no bitterness.

Naturally this does not come cheap with prices for “Black Ivvory ” expected to go for $50 a cup.

Civet coffee, Kopi Luwak currently sells for $30 per cup.

So how long will it be before we have Kruger Park Black Ivory Coffee selling on the market.

If the dung is more valuable that the ivory could we be on to something here?

Over to the rhino foundation…
