The industry association has been gathering for the past 6 years to present its own awards for excellence in the food service industry. This year the title went to Chantell Dartnell and Mosaic.

Chantell is renowned for her innovative and meticulous approach to modern fine dining, having trained in France and the UK she brings a very strong artistic touch to her food which coupled with her bubbly personalty brings a broad smile to patrons at Mosaic.

Chantel found her second home in Paris where she fell in love with the Belle Epoque Restaurants such as Le Grand Colbert, Vaganende and La Fermette Marbeuf. When asked how she wanted to decorate Restaurant Mosaic, her choice was easy – in the Art Nouveau style. Renowned South African Impressionist artists and interior decorators were commissioned to step back in time to the romantic early 1900s to create a restaurant that was both romantic and unique.

It has an intimate feel with booth-type seats and two private dining rooms. When the restaurant is open, award-winning chef Chantel Dartnall is always in attendance and always meets the diners to explain the menu and answer questions.

Mosaic was also awarded the 2012 Diners Club International Diamond Wine List Award and nominated in the Eat Out Top 20 for 2012.

Mosaic will be hosting both a special Christmas Eve dinner on Monday, 24 December and its popular lunch on Christmas Day on Tuesday, 25 December.

The other restaurants nominated in the category include Bice, Tokara, The Tasting Room, Cafe 41 and the Butcher Block Executive Grill

Restaurant Mosaic is located in The Orient Boutique Hotel in the Francolin Conservation Area, Elandsfontein, Crocodile River Valley, Gauteng. It is a 45 minute drive from Johannesburg and 30 minutes from Pretoria. Tel: 012 371 2902
